Project to promote Welsh talent

A new initiative has been developed to support emerging Welsh artists.

The scheme, dubbed The Sounds of 2014, is part of a wider programme called Horizons. Jointly funded by BBC Cymru Wales and Arts Council of Wales, it will showcase 12 exciting unsigned acts from across Wales.

Bethan Elfyn of BBC Radio Wales, who is acting as the caretaking producer for the scheme says, “It’ll help new music in many ways by supporting a collection of new artists, known as Horizon 12. It’s going to be a huge but exciting task.”

The chosen artists will be announced over the next few months after a panel discusses the nominations. They will reconvene in January to let the public and industry voices have their say.
