A blog bringing a community together

A local Rhondda resident has taken it upon herself to raise the moral of her town by producing a blog that shows cases all that there is to do in the Valleys. Sarah Lawrence has only been writing her blog since September but “my Rhondda bucket list” has already had a great deal of success.

As well as a profile by Wales online she has also caught the attention of her local MP, Chris Bryant,  and became very popular on social media.

Sarah inspiration for the blog came after joining a local church. She said, “People were constantly saying what a dump Rhondda was, I wanted to promote the ‘goodness’ of the Valleys and to show people here that there are great things to be found in this Valley”.

With a Word Press account and a strong social media presence it seems that a real community can be formed, with people sharing advice on the best things to do and places to go rather than relying on adverts and listings. Cardiff central itself has seen its own influx of blogs. With such incentives as #cardiffbucketlist, people are sharing advice on things you need to do in the capital.

Have a look at Sarah’s blog here.
