A hundred years of pure imagination will be celebrated next year in commemoration of the centenary of Roald Dahl’s birth.
The 13 September 2016 marks a hundred years since the writer’s birth, and Cardiff is already preparing to celebrate the national treasure.
In 1987, Roald Dahl was appointed the first president of the Norwegian Church Preservation Trust, but sadly died before the reconstruction of the church was complete. The Norwegian Church on Cardiff Bay where Dahl worshipped as a child, is working with the Welsh Government and Literature Wales to raise awareness of Dahl’s achievements.
Tony Caley-Burnell, conference and events co-ordinator for Cardiff Council said: “We celebrate Roald Dahl Day every year on the Sunday closest to Roald Dahl’s birthday.”
Next year will be extra special, with a free family fun day being held at the Church to encourage the public to believe in magic for a hundred more years.
