The number of Welsh households accepted as homeless has declined this year, with the current figure at 14,160 for the year 2015, according to StatsWales.
Despite the seeming influx in homeless people throughout Wales, this is not the case, with homeless numbers falling from 15,855 last year.
StatsWales confirms that the main reason behind homelessness in Cardiff is the loss of rented or tiered accommodation, with the total figure being 230.
Llion Bevan, a campaigns officer at Cardiff charity Shelter Cymru says, “Cardiff is relatively well catered for due to a mixture of local authority provision and charitable causes working to help also.”
He added, “It has been a tough year with the demand for advice, but many of our surgeries are working to full capacity.”
Many people have a biased view of the homeless, so we took to the street to find out what people really thought some of the main reasons behind homelessness were.
