Food banks in South Wales are asking for more food due to a jump in people requiring emergency food.
The number of people using food banks in Cardiff has increased by 23% within the last year, and this number seems set to rise.
The Trussell Trust aims to provide emergency food for people in crisis and operates 445 food banks across the United Kingdom, six of these being in Cardiff.

Due to the increase of referals, Trussell Trust food banks are short of food, especially tinned fruit, sponge pudding and jam.
Emma Thorogood of the Trussell Trust says, “The work done by those in food banks like Cardiff demonstrates the determined willingness of communities to pull together to stop people in their area going hungry.”
