Oxide Ghosts is hosted by Snowcat Cinema at Milk & Sugar and will be followed by a Q&A session with director Michael Cumming
A South Wales pop-up cinema will be hosting the regions only screening of documentary, Oxide Ghosts on 5 December.
Hosted at the Milk & Sugar café at the Old Library in Cardiff city centre, the screening organised by Snowcat cinema will be followed by a Q&A session with Brass Eye director, Michael Cumming.
The documentary follows the filming of cult channel 4 hit, Brass Eye starring Chris Morris and a series of screenings have been set up across the UK to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the shows first airing.
The screening will be one that fans of Brass Eye won’t want to miss as issues with legal and rights prevent the film from being released commercially.
Ben Rive, 40, founder of Snowcat Cinema said he became a huge fan of Brass Eye during his time at university so the show holds a place in his heart.
His devastation about missing out on a recent screening of Oxide Ghosts in Bristol was his main motivation to set up a screening in Cardiff as the film is not intended for wider release.
“I decided to contact the director, Michael Cumming about screening in Cardiff and he agreed,” said Ben. “It’s the only screening in South Wales so we already have people coming from places like Swansea and Newport to attend. Milk & Sugar has a capacity of 120 people so it should be a really great event.”
Speaking of the first screening of Oxide Ghosts, Andy Murray at Chortle said: “It’s a treat to see Brass Eye again and to get to watch and hear in person what it took to get it on screen.
“Meanwhile Oxide Ghosts is a very worthwhile piece – a thoughtful, curiously touching time capsule which pays fulsome tribute to and certainly never cheapens the spirit of the original show.”
