All Our Stories film project to tackle Welsh history

A heritage lottery funded film project, which premieres in Butetown this month, seeks to bring back a balance to Welsh history.

Butetown Community Centre

The film premieres at the new Butetown Community Centre, and will follow a debate and refreshments

All Our Stories, directed and edited by Tara Wyllie, is a collection of in depth interviews with Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) local residents, recording their personal stories and uncovering their collective multicultural heritage.

According to Diverse Cymru, who is behind the film project, research indicates Welsh BME feel their communities’ stories are ignored in Welsh history.

Diverse Cymru’s Stewart Hardy said, “This project will assist in exploring and finding their place in that heritage, recording those memories and experiences and bringing out the positive role models and contributions of BME people across Cardiff.”

All Our Stories premieres on 22 November and a DVD of the film will be available.
