Sherman supports “homegrown” talent

Cardiff’s Sherman Cymru raises the curtain on a new Welsh language production this month as part of its strategy to raise awareness of Welsh theatre.

A play by Aled Jones Williams, Pridd stars Owen Arwyn as Handi Al, a children’s entertainer whose life has been turned upside down. Although it is performed in Welsh, director Sara Lloyd believes that by journeying though the story with Handi Al, any audience will be able to understand the plot regardless of language.

Marketing officer for the Sherman, Adam Jones, emphasised the importance the theatre placed on including Welsh content in its programme. He said, “We feel it is vitally important to nurture homegrown talent and champion the language.”

Pridd runs at the Sherman Cymru 12-14 November.
