Castell Coch is holding a wreath making workshop on 1 December to kick start the festive month.

Visitors will learn how to create wreaths and candle holders using materials sourced in the castle grounds.

Last year’s wreath making was a success, the castle’s custodian Cori-Lee Dykstra explains: “It’s not surprising as they cost so little and turn out so nice; whereas they [wreaths] are expensive ready-made.”

The event is open to all, Dykstra adds: “The lady who runs it is in Victorian dress and brilliant with both adults and children.”

Craft based, hands on activities are at the heart of “Cadw” – the historic environment service for the Welsh Government.

Castell Coch welcomes everyone, Dykstra explains: “People do not need to bring anything but themselves.”
