Scent Chak Crystals owner found her niche in life as she always loved crystals and will be soon present at the Night Market
Scent Chak Crystals owner Radie Elizabeth Beaverstock from Pontyclun speaks confidently with a sense of purpose filled in her voice. Beaverstock will be showcasing her products at the Night Market event on 15 November.
Running another business in the past for 15 years, Beaverstock started her second business Scent Chak Crystals in 2022 at the Cardiff Market. She said she had to build it from the ground up which made it challenging.
Working since age three, Beaverstock’s father was a market trader. He would take her to the Cardiff Market with him.
She was advanced in selling from a young age. She always loved crystals, so she started selling crystals and has now found her niche in life.
Encountering the plot twist
At 32, Beaverstock had a serious car accident that caused her to lose both legs. Not only has she built up her own businesses, but she had to run them as a disabled person. She currently uses prosthetics.
Beaverstock had to bring up her five children and stayed away from work for a year before engaging again. She has been her children’s role model who have seen her work hard.
It was very important for her to take her children to the market and show that even when she had her accident she would not give up and make sure that she gives them the best life.
Customer service skills
At Scent Chak Crystals, Beaverstock sells a wide range of crystals, lamps, jewelry, candles and incense sticks. Beaverstock wants customers to feel welcome to her stall, not rushed.
The 57-year-old tells her young employee that customer service skills are the most important. The Scent Chak Crystals owner continues: “I’ll teach her life skills and things that she’ll never take from another job because I learned these myself.” she says keenly.
As owner of Scent Chak Crystals, Beaverstock said: “It’s not really like a job anymore, it’s more like a hobby.”
It wasn’t all about the money
Beaverstock grew up going to the Cardiff market and feels it was not all about the money. The mother of five said: “We need money to live but you come into this world with nothing and go out of this world with nothing.”
She advises young people to be hardworking if they want to start a business. Beaverstock’s children realised how hard she worked and inspired them.
“It’s not really like a job anymore, it’s more like a hobby”
Celebrating the City of Arcades Day
As the City of Arcades Day approaches on 16 November, Scent Chak Crystals will be present at the Night Market. The Night Market is an event that takes place annually at the Cardiff Market from 6pm to 9pm to celebrate the City of Arcades Day.
Having a stall in the Cardiff Market, “many years ago, you could never get a stall there.” Beaverstock shared.
Beaverstock wants the Night Market visitors to enjoy themselves. “If they want to have a look at the crystals, I want to engage with them.” She said.
The Scent Chak Crystals owner wants people at the Night Market to enjoy themselves and if they come to the Night market, a singer will be performing to celebrate the night.
“There’ll be a lot of fun going on, a lot of people, you know, just having a lot of food and having a little chit chat.” Beaverstock said.
Beaverstock thinks the Cardiff Market is wonderful and is so proud to be a part of it.
