Hedd Wyn’s house to receive a new roof
The home of famous Welsh poet Hedd Wyn is due to have work done to its roof.
The Grade 11 listed building in Yr Ysgwrn, dating back to 1849, will be receiving much needed work to its roof.
The renovation work will take three months to complete, starting Monday 5 December and will mark the 60th anniversary of Snowdonia National Park.
Cardiff University’s lecturer in the school of Welsh said, “Welsh is a vital part of our culture, as too is our material heritage. And the Welsh language and its literature is the cornerstone of that heritage. So celebrating Hedd Wyn’s life by restoring his house in this way seems a worthwhile project.”
The building houses the Eisteddfod chair and sees about 3,000 people each year.
