LGBT Iris Film Festival hits Cardiff

An international gay and lesbian short film festival is being held in Cardiff at the Chapter Arts Centre and Cineworld, on 10-14 October 2012. The Iris festival is awarding the world’s largest prize for a short film, and is the only competition of its kind that gives the winner the opportunity to make a new film. Festival Director Berwyn Rowlands highlighted the importance of Cardiff’s role in hosting the competition, and how the festival can also appeal to a wide audience outside of the gay community.

“The festival is a celebration of film and cinema… it’s also about good story-telling and good film-making,” he says. The project aims to identify up-and-coming film makers, and to provide a support network for the winner as they produce their next piece.
