Jamie Oliver’s 10p sugar tax is failing to deter customers from purchasing fizzy drinks, according to the manager of Jamie’s Italian Restaurant in Cardiff.
The added expense on fizzy drinks was introduced to Jamie Oliver’s restaurants as part of his Sugar Rush campaign, but is not putting customers off purchasing them.
The manager said, “It’s not affecting our sales at all. There is an extra 10p added onto the original price, and this 10p going towards the Sugar Rush organisation or campaign. But it’s not affecting our sales.”
Money made from the added expense on fizzy drinks goes towards the Children’s Health Fund.
Jamie Oliver continues to push for a national 20% tax for sugary drinks having collected over 140,000 signatures for his petition.
