Ffwrnes has previously provided pizza for Geraint Thomas, Charlotte Church and George North’s nuptials
Welsh pizza company Ffwrnes Pizza is causing a stir with their pizza trucks, catering for outdoor events including food festivals and weddings.
Pizza is a popular food choice for weddings lately, as it is versatile and caters for everybody, whether vegetarian, vegan or a meat eater.
This comes after the news that a UK couple provided £350 worth of Domino’s pizza for their wedding reception guests.
Owners Jeremy Phillips and Ieuan Harry, from Llanelli and Trimsaran respectively, started the company in 2014 as they saw the rise in popularity of woodfire pizza and saw a gap in the market for it.
Ffwrnes has become more popular as a wedding evening caterer, catering for over 50 weddings in 2019 alone.
As the first Welsh-language pizza company in the city centre, it uses Italian and Welsh ingredients and Welsh meat specifically.
“Pizza covers a spectrum and isn’t inferior,” says Jeremy.
As a wedding food choice it doesn’t feel like a substitute for a meat option for vegetarians for example because everybody is eating the same thing.”
Jeremy and Ieuan travel to weddings in a pizza truck and cook the pizza for guests by cooking in a woodfire oven inside the truck.
They’ve three vans; a little three-wheeler, Smokey Pete, and his larger brother, Sam Van Tân.
When asked why they think people want pizza as a wedding food, Ieuan says, “It’s because of the relaxed feel of the food.
“People also like the look of the van. We actually had friends who cancelled catering for their wedding after seeing the van and they decided to have pizza instead.”
The pair provide a range of pizzas from the classic Marinara to the “Jiawl Bach” that includes salami, pepperoni and chillies.
