Sean Harris is a passionate artist bringing the Great Auk back to life and warning of what could happen to the Curlew.

The exhibition tells the importance of protecting a bird species that is incredibly important to Welsh culture.

Choosing the Senedd as the location for this exhibition is a conscious choice by Harris as it is a location of debate and contrasting opinions. His aim is to bring people together with a common goal; protection and conservation.

Sean Harris, 56, is a visual artist and animator from Powys. His work tells stories of animals and nature past and present while highlighting the importance of changing the culture of greed to lead to a more sustainable co-habitation between humans and the natural world.

Sean says his art acts as “catalysts for conversations that need to be had.”
His current exhibition is located in @seneddwales and the Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay. It is titled The Conference of the Birds: Curlew and Great Auk and demonstrates how humans caused the extinction of the Great Auk and shows that, without change, the Curlew will be wiped out of Wales in less than a decade.

For Gavin Sheppard, who has lived with HIV since 2 For Gavin Sheppard, who has lived with HIV since 2007, the reality of his current treatment is simply taking one tablet a day.

Advances in medication mean that those on effective treatment can live a normal life expectancy. They can also lower the level of HIV in their blood until it is ‘undetectable’ and consequently they are no longer able to pass on HIV through sex.

Increased access to testing means that the future is looking bright in supporting the Welsh government’s goal of reaching zero new HIV diagnoses by 2030.

So why, when treatment and prevention has advanced so much, does HIV stigma still exist in Wales? And how is it affecting people living with HIV?
