The future of Cardiff’s newest Farmers Market hangs in the balance this week as it awaits a decision from Cardiff council.
Castle Quarter Market, located on the High Street has been on trial since August, trading locally produced food every Thursday. RCMA Social Enterprises is the company behind the project, which encourages local traders to sell their produce and get the community back to buying local.
The council are currently conducting research with other Cardiff traders to ensure the market is beneficial to the welsh economy.
RCMA’s Director, Steve Garrett, is hopeful that the market will continue. “A town without a market is a town without a heart”, he says. “We are optimistic and they [the council] are optimistic that the outcome will be positive”.
