Coaches and volunteers do battle for top sporting accolade
On 16 November, Sport Wales, the organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales, will host its annual Sport Wales Coach of the Year Awards.
The awards ceremony, which is held in Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens, aims to highlight and celebrate the work of coaches and volunteers at the heart of professional and community sport in Wales.
Whilst the ceremony bestows the accolade of “Coach of the Year” upon one overall winner, there are also numerous sub-categories, which include “High Performance Coach of the Year” and “Volunteer of the Year.”
The PR Officer for Sport Wales, Paul Batcup, says, “The awards are about recognising and championing coaches; this is an important area of work and the annual awards helps with raising this profile.”
