The curry night will commemorate a local sporting hero
A charity is holding a curry night in Cardiff this week to commemorate a local football legend.
The Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust will hold a curry night on Thursday 17 November at Cardiff City Stadium in Leckwith. All proceeds will go towards a statue of Fred Keenor, the captain who led the bluebirds to FA Cup victory
in 1927.
Dilwar Ali of Nahin Spice Centre will lend his culinary skills and there will be music from local folk musician Frank Hennessey.
Member of the board of trustees Phillip Nifield said: “Keenor is undoubtedly one of Cardiff’s most iconic sporting heroes. We don’t feel his achievements have been properly recognised. A statue will help put that right.”
The trust hopes to raise enough funds by April.
