Cardiff cycle workshop celebrates first birthday with prestigious award

Workers at Cardiff Cycle Workshop fix a bike for resale

Cardiff Cycle Workshop will celebrate their first birthday this month, after winning a prestigious award.

The company, a project within Cycle Training Wales, recently won the Innovation in Recycling award for their business, which sells refurbished bikes and offers basic maintenance workshops and advance courses.

The project, which is based in Ely Bridge and also has an on-the-spot repair service, has noticed an increase in people wanting a bike for personal use.

Andrew Burns, Cycle Training Wales’s Development Manager, says, “In the current economic climate, a lot of people are thinking they need to use their car less and just want an inexpensive bike to get them to and from work.”

He continues, “The workshop helps people to overcome the barrier of bike ownership.”
