Maintaining an area of some 110 acres is no mean feat, but Cathays Cemetery has once again received The Green Flag Award for its high standards of care.
The award is given to green spaces in England and Wales that meet strict criteria, such as being a well maintained, clean and sustainable area, as well as being safe and secure.
In addition, Cathays Cemetery also commits to a high level of community involvement, in which the council works closely with The Friends of Cathays Cemetery organization to hold regular guided walks.
Cllr Ashley Govier, member for Environment, recognizes the award’s social importance, “It reinforces all the good work that is being done both by council staff and the cemetery’s volunteer group.”
