Oxfam Boutique and Coleg-Y-Cymraeg promote ethical fashion with their new upcycling project at Cardiff’s Superwoman Event.
The event hosted by the organisation ‘Superwoman’ last Thursday, gave art and design students of Coleg-Y-Cymraeg a chance to promote the new campaign.
Eco Kimono sees students creating Japanese garments from re-usable material issued by Oxfam Boutique. This is to encourage minimum waste in the fashion industry as well as raising funds for the charity, Oxfam. Lisa Porch, lecturer, said: “The Japanese theme was chosen as traditional folk costume uses textile lengths together with zero wastage at the pattern cutting stage”
Following the event on Thursday the students will showcase their final designs at a fashion show on 9 November, before the items go on sale in Oxfam Boutique.
