Exotic beer for Wetherspoon’s

Think of beer at Wetherspoon’s and you may well think of the standards.

But in an October beer festival, customers of nine local Wetherspoon’s pubs are invited to try a selection of beers from around the world and lesser-known beers from the UK, priced between £1.75 and £2.15. Anyone who wants to try a range of the beers can sample three types in third pint glasses for the price of a pint.

Central Cardiff pubs involved: A – Central Bar, B – Ernest Willows, C – The Gatekeeper, D – The Ivor Davies, E – The Crockerton, F – The Mount Stuart, G (behind ‘H’) – The Prince of Wales, H – The Great Western. Also participating is The Aneurin Bevan on Caerphilly Rd

Amongst the selection are Flying Dutchman Spiced Ale from Holland, Red Racer from Central City, Canada and Zulu Blonde from Zululand, South Africa. Zulu Blonde owner Richard Chennels says “Our brewery in Eshowe, Zululand is tiny so it’s such a great opportunity brewing overseas. It’s given our beer and town such wonderful exposure!”
