Caerphilly Castle will lower its drawbridge for an outdoor cinema screening later this month.
As part of Cadw and Chapter’s tainted love season, the Princess Bride and Beauty and the Beast will be screened on Friday 20 November. On Saturday 21 November Frozen Singalong will be shown, followed by a special screening of Phantom of the Opera.
As the Phantom of the Opera (1925) is a silent film, the hosts have booked Steepways Sound Collective to provide a live musical score during the show. Welsh National Opera will also perform.
Claire Vaughan, programme officer at Chapter, said, “It allows the castle to be seen in a different light by audiences – some of whom report to us that despite living locally it is their first visit to the castle.”
