A local choir is performing a Christmas concert to raise money for charity and to celebrate a decade of singing together.
City Voices Cardiff, is a local choir with 180 members and over the last 10 years has been involved with raising £50,000 for various charities, and has performed at numerous venues in Cardiff and further afield.
After 10 years of performances, the festive celebration on 15 December marks the long life of the choir.
The concert will feature a range of traditional carols as well as festive film favourites and will be held at St. David’s Hall.
The concert is on 15 December at St.David’s Hall.
Simon Curtis is the musical director. Originally from Hertfordshire he said the concert was an important celebration and a great opportunity to raise more money for charity.
“We’re raising money for five fantastic charities as part of our anniversary year and have set the target of £10,000 in total to be shared equally. Our fundraising currently stands at about £7,000 and we’re making a big push,” he said.
The fundraising will go towards Touch Trust, Velindre Cancer Centre, The Forget-Me-Not-Chorus, Ty Hapus and Child Bereavement UK.
Cecile, 39, from Canton, joined the choir in 2010 and says the concert is a great way to celebrate.
“The songs are a collection of our best memories as a choir, we love performing them and I can’t wait to do it again,” he said.
