Cardiff Council doubles road safety awareness
this November
Road Safety Week is observed across the UK every November, but Cardiff Council is extending the awareness period in a bid to keep the city safe.
The initiative will run for a fortnight commencing 14 November. John Goff, Senior Road Safety Officer for Cardiff Council, explained the reasoning behind this is simply to target more people.
The Road Safety Team will be out in force and promoting their Safety Zone centre in Treforest, which consists of a 10,000 square foot mocked-up unit, to simulate real life scenarios. Training is open to all ages, whether you’re a cyclist, pedestrian or driver.
The team are targeting 2,500 primary school children during the fortnight. “Children love going to the Safety Zone. They take in so much information, their brains are like sponges,” John concluded.
