Buffalo Bar is one of Cardiff’s finest independent venues. Open till the early hours of the morning every night of the week Buffalo hosts a vast range of different events. With monthly comedy nights, regular live music events and pub quizzes there is enough going on to keep anyone entertained. The Buffalo club nights are hosted in the upstairs room and bring world class DJs to the people of Cardiff every night of the week.
With such an impressive line-up of music and comedy events one could reasonably expect for there to be less of a focus on quality food, nothing could be further from the truth. While the bar at Buffalo can be a serious drain on your bank balance the food is very reasonably priced. Never one to miss a deal, I decided to head down on a monday for a half price burger and I certainly don’t regret the decision.
Cardiff is home to many fine burger-making establishments and Buffalo has certainly earned its place at the table, having received multiple awards for its handcrafted burgers.
An old favourite of mine, the Bonnie & Clyde burger has recently made its return to the menu and the £9.95 price tag before any discounts or offers is more than reasonable.
According to the lovely bar staff it is their most popular burger and it is easy to see why. The thick beef patty was well-done but still retained its juiciness, the lettuce was fresh, crispy and the sliced tomato provided an element of sweetness. Crispy bacon, Monterey Jack cheese and a toasted slightly sweetened bun finish off the ensemble to make a genre defining bacon cheeseburger.
