Cardiff Poppy Day aims to encourage people to donate for the charity

Cardiff Poppy Day 2015 saw people come together to support the Armed Forces by collecting for the Poppy Appeal.

Military personnel and civic volunteers launched Cardiff Poppy Day on 29 October aiming to raise money for the Poppy Appeal.

Cardiff Poppy Day aims to raise £20,000 for the charity and provide support to anyone who is currently serving in the British Armed Forces, who has previously served, and their families by encouraging citizens to donate.

A drill instructor for flight sergeant SNCO said: “There are approximately 150 collectors this year and the collectors for the last couple of days are many young volunteers who give their free time over weeks to collect money for the appeal. Some young people are from secondary schools and basically doing in their free time.”

Lewis Saunders, a 13-year-old volunteer, said: “It is been great so far and I have raised quite a lot money. It is my second bucket today. And I think it affects people today and still affects people in the past and also people in the future.”
