The Young Storytellers Wales Festival, highlights the creative talents of local youth featuring young voices sharing stories to foster communal diversity, and personal confidence.
Riverside Cardiff is set to host a transformative cultural event as Cath Little, a celebrated storyteller, invites the community to the Young Storytellers Wales Festival this Saturday on November 16th, from 12 to 4 p.m. at The Riverside Warehouse in Cardiff.
“This is about more than storytelling,” said Cath. “It’s about helping young people realize that their ideas matter, their voices matter. They have the imagination and creativity within them to create new stories and share them with others.”
The festival is supported and funded by the South Riverside Community Development Centre, Literature Wales, and the Arts Council of Wales, with a dual mission: to celebrate the power of storytelling while also raising funds.
“This festival isn’t just about storytelling,” It’s about giving young people to realize that their voices matter. When they stand up and speak, they’re not only telling stories—they’re building confidence in themselves and in the power of their imagination.” said Cath.
The festival is a celebration of heritage and community, with young participants presenting stories inspired by their families, their roots, and their dreams. Many of these stories reflect on their connection to Pakistan, with the young storytellers practicing Urdu to incorporate a sense of cultural authenticity.
“I’m so proud of these young children. They’ve worked hard, not only on their storytelling but also on embracing their heritage and practicing a new language. It’s going to be incredibly powerful.” said Cath.
The Young Storytellers Wales Festival is not just a showcase; it’s a call to action for the entire community to come together and support these budding storytellers.
“Art and storytelling shouldn’t be limited to those who can afford it. We want to create opportunities for all young people to experience the joy and confidence that comes from sharing their stories.” said Cath.
Cath encourages everyone to attend, not just as spectators but as active participants in celebrating the power of youth and creativity, for an afternoon of inspiration, culture, and free lunch.
