Craving for delicious, proper hot dogs with a tinge of difference? Head to Hogwurst.
Close to the Talybont residence area, it is a favorite among students for quick but filling snacks or a perfect place for a conversation with a friend over a cup of coffee.
Be it The Texan, Ze German, The Hogamama, The Dogfather or The Butty Dog, they are as unique as their names. I ordered The Texan and a plate of cheesy nachos. If you are eating alone, then the quantity is too much for one person unless you have been starving yourself for a day or two.
The caramelized onion blended perfectly with the sauces giving it a rich taste. Though there could have been more chicken pieces. On the whole the hot dog didn’t leave much space for the anything else. But, my favourite from this artsy little café is the cheesy nachos which crispy and just the right amount of cheesy. They keep changing their desserts every day and I happen to eat the tempting Chocolate Fudge Cake. As cliché as it might sound, the cake melted in my mouth.
The interior is homey, welcoming and intimate. The people are friendly, prompt and helpful. If you are eating alone and you are a bookworm like me, then there is good news for you. There is a good stack of books to choose from right next to the counter and there are table lamps towards the end of the café.
But, space poses a slight problem for the café. With the number of people visiting it every day, sometimes the place can be too crowded. In that case, you can always ask for takeaway.
If you think it’s time you have had a proper hot dog, you know where to stop by. Have a conversation or just read, do whatever you feel like but with some good food (read: hot dogs).
Verdict: Filling, flavorsome hot dogs and other snacks at a reasonable price.
