A new store in Cardiff is perfect for dinosaur lovers, and it’s open just in time for Christmas.
Recently opened in Cardiff’s city centre, Dino Fossils UK sells everything dino-related, from megaladon teeth to triassic dung.
The shop opened just last week in Cardiff’s royal arcade. Nestled between a barbershop and donut store, Dino Fossils is a treasure trove for dinosaur lovers, and a welcome addition to Cardiff’s eclectic shop selection.
“We’ve been selling fossils online since 2012, and we’ve just set up our first (in-person) shop last week,” says Matthew Evans, one of the shops co-owners. They’ve successfully grown the company from a small online shopfront, to one of the UK’s largest suppliers of fossils, with their clientele ranging from museums to movie stars.
While other cities lament their dying high streets. Cardiff proves once-again that it’s a city where shops can’t only scrape by and survive, but thrive, as a flurry of stores have opened in the run-up to Christmas, including Dino Fossils, Sostrene Grene, and Pull & Bear. Cardiff’s shopping streets are undoubtedly thriving.
“We are delighted to welcome Dino Fossils to the Morgan Quarter,” says Marika Jones, centre manager at the Morgan Quarter, speaking to WalesOnline. “Opening just ahead of the festive season, it is an exciting time to introduce this unique addition to the city. Dino Fossils brings something truly distinctive to the ever-growing range of independent retailers within the historic Royal Arcade.”
Dino Fossils prides itself on selling certified fossils. “Everything we put out we label and identify. We’ve prided ourselves on making sure everything is exactly what we say it is.” They even offer a lifetime guarantee, refunding the purchase if a fossil is proven (by a museum) to be mislabeled. Though such a refund hasn’t been required in their 12 years of business.
The store stock a broad range of fossils and other items. Including the horn of a triceratops, the jaw of a wooly rhino, an iguanodon vertebrae, fossilised dino eggs, and a 3.4 billion year old stromatolite.
And if that isn’t interesting enough, the stores centrepiece is a life-sized replica of a deinonychus dinosaur skeleton, looming over customers, and making Dino Fossils UK a must visit for any dinosaur lovers this Christmas season.
