Ole Gunnar on bonuses

Solskjaer

OLE GUNNAR Solskjaer dismissed worries Vincent Tan is distracting Cardiff City in their fight against relegation to the Championship.
Mr Tan offered City’s players £3.7 million in bonuses if they stayed up this season after their defeat at Tottenham only to be forced to withdraw the offer by the Premier League.
It was also reported he gave a team talk to the players when he told them it was important for them to “shoot more” if they were to stay in the top flight for another year.
But Solskjaer said his players are focused on the task in hand. “After the game there were reports that this was said or that was said but that’s missing the point,” he said.
“For me it’s completely irrelevant. What’s relevant is that we’ere in there together. Tan was there to encourage the lads and back the team and he’s behind us. We’re here to get the job done.
“He was there to rally everyone, we invited him to come, it’s not like many people say. We showed unity and that’s what you’ve got to show to the players, that we’re all in this together.”
Solskjaer added his players were fighting for their place in the division because of pride, not financial rewards. He said: “These players are playing football because they love it and I want them to play like they’re in the schoolyard with no fear.”
The former Manchester United striker said he was not aware of any further contact from the Premier League regarding Mr Tan’s bonus offer.
