A Cardiff pancake house will stay open for an extra two hours today to cope with the pancake day rush.
In what they say will be their busiest day of the year, The Pancake House is expecting a large crowd to rush to their city centre store for Shrove Tuesday.
Hayley Webster, one of the managers, said: “Hands down, this is our busiest day of the year and because it’s half term as well it will be busy with children and families. We always have queues outside the door and six members of staff throughout the day, which is exceptional.
“We now serve American style pancakes as well and they are hugely popular with our customers. Bacon, eggs and maple syrup, and bacon, avocado and sour cream are the most popular savoury choices. We also have vegetarian choices.
“I think Pancake Day is a lovely tradition and families still celebrate it. It has been increasingly advertised by chain stores in the past couple of years which is good for our business.”
Based in the Brewery Quarter, the Pancake House opened in 2005 and is the longest-running specialist pancake cafe in Cardiff. It can seat up to 12 people and serves savoury and sweet pancakes and has a wide range of toppings on offer with customers also able to customise their pancake.
The Pancake House will be open from 9am to 11pm today only and normally from 10am to 10pm. Pancakes range between £4.50 and £5.50.
