Devils looking for League and Cup double

CARDIFF Devils face the Sheffield Steelers tomorrow night just three days after their Challenge Cup final win over the same side.
This time in the league, the Devils will be travelling up to Sheffield to try and repeat Sunday’s performance where they turned the Steelers over 2-1 in their backyard. Push off is at 7.30 pm.
Sunday’s win for the Devils meant they lifted their first piece of silverware since 2007.

The Devils’ goals came in a two-minute spurt in the second period with Chris Culligan and player-coach Andrew Lord providing the goals.
Lord scored the first in the 21st minute with Culligan soon doubling the Devils lead in the 23rd minute.
Sheffield had lost their forward Tomas Petruska to a shoulder injury in the first period and that seemed to rattle them until the 4th period when they got a goal back through Cullen Eddy.
It made for a tense finish but Cardiff held firm to secure their first Challenge Cup win since 2004.
Speaking to a broadcaster, Lord said of his team’s cup victory: “”This is a special group of guys and it was a fantastic performance. I am so pleased for every single one of them, the management, the staff and the fans.
“The fans were superb and they deserve this moment. They have backed us for so long and I am thrilled for them.”
As well as the cup win, the Devils are also in with a shout for the league as well. Braehead Clans are currently top of the table on 67 points with Sheffield in second on 66. Cardiff lie third on 64 but have a game in hand over Sheffield and two games in hand over Braehead.
A win tomorrow night would set the Devils up with a good chance of completing a historic double in a season to remember.
