Cardiff City travel to London tomorrow to face high-flying Brentford as they look to bounce back from a disappointing defeat when they hosted Charlton last weekend.
Cardiff go into tomorrow’s game hoping to finish the season positively. The Bluebirds are not in danger of being relegated but they are further away from the top six than they are from the bottom three.
They have to start keeping hold of leads, as they have lost or drawn from winning positions far too often this season. Speaking after the loss to Charlton, manager Russel Slade said: “We dominated 75% of the game so it is a little bit frustrating to say the least. We’ve just got to learn to manage the game for the entire ninety minutes.
“We got ourselves into a position where we were in front, having dominated large periods of the match. From there, we should have put the three points to bed in all honesty.”
Brentford will be looking to continue their fine home form this weekend. The Bees have won their last three home games in a row, scoring 11 goals in the process. But Cardiff also come into the game boasting a good run of recent results – away from at least.
The bluebirds have won seven out of a possible nine points in their last three away games and seem to be fairing better when away from their home ground.
The match is certainly more important to Brentford, who are hanging on to a play-off place. But Cardiff need to push on until the end of the season to make themselves and the fans believe promotion next season is a realistic aim.
