A PROTEST against further cuts to wages took place outside the National Museum yesterday.
It happened in conjunction with a protest at London’s National Gallery, which currently plans to outsource 400 of 600 jobs and will not give workers a living wage.
The protest on the steps of Cardiff’s museum was about the distribution of pay to staff, who have seen a one per cent increase on their wages year on year for the last five years.
Alongside PCS (Public and Commercial Services Union) and members from The National Gallery, staff argued it was compulsory for them to work weekends, which should warrant a bigger pay rise.
Museum worker Cath Wilson said: “We don’t think this is really fair. It’s not an option to not work on weekends.
“We deserve more.”
