1. When Geri Halliwell left the Spice Girls in 1998.
It was the end of an era when Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice, walked out on the Spice Girls at the peak of their fame. Rumours were rife about the reasons behind the departure with many speculating a feud with one or more members of the girl group forced her out. But other members have since suggested it was the stresses of fame just got all too much for Geri.

2. When Robbie Williams left Take That in 1995
Wayward Robbie was told by band members to clean up his act or get out. Those were the two options Take That gave Robbie Williams in 1995; Williams chose the latter. In 2007 Williams was treated for his addiction to the prescription pills Xanax, Seroxat and Vicodin, and……. the energy drink Lucozade. The group eventually disbanded in 1996 , and the rest is history for Williams. The end? Not quite. In 2005, Take That reunited as a quartet and Robbie joined them in 2010. Today, Take That are a three-piece with Williams again leaving, along with Jason Orange, to pursue other projects.

3. When Destiny’s Child Split in 2005
After 15 years together, the members of Destiny’s Child – Michelle Williams, Kelly Rowland and Beyonce Knowles – decided the time was right to end on a positive note after the dissolution of female pop Groups before them.  And a high note it was, with the trio selling more than 60 million records, widely regarded as one of the greatest musical trios of all time. The girls have since forged successful solo careers – Beyonce reinventing herself as the Queen B.

  1. When Brian Mcfadden left Westlife in 2004

At the time of Brian McFadden’s departure, Westlife were the biggest selling boy bands in the world, so naturally, many a fan girl and boy was devastated by McFadden’s exit. McFadden said he left the group to spend more time with his family. The group would eventually release a handful of number one hits after McFadden left. They officially split up eight years later in 2012.

  1. When H and Claire Left Steps in 2001

It was the end of an era when Steps disbanded, after Ian ‘H’ Watkins and Claire Richards bid farewell to the popular group. The official line was the group was ending on a high, but it has since emerged H and Claire left because they were unhappy with the group and wanted to go their own way musically. 1. N Sync’s Split in 2002

Not officially a split as such, it was N Sync’s quiet slide into obscurity that left many a loyal fan hanging. The boy band simply announced they were going on hiatus in 2002. That said, they haven’t recorded any new songs since and former band members have gone on to publicly declare they have “definitely broken up”. Still, many are holding out hope of a reunion, as seen during Justin Timberlake’s performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2013.
