RIVERSIDE’S new Labour councillor plans to reduce the traffic problems and make the area a safer place to live.
Caro Wild, 39, believes one of the biggest concerns in the area is the amount of traffic on the roads, especially on Cowbridge Road East and Cathedral Road.
He said: “The traffic and parking are a big issue. There are too many cars as more people are moving into the area. Cardiff is growing all the time.”
As a member of the community and a cyclist himself, he supports Cardiff Cycle City’s manifesto.
This manifesto hopes to make the lives of cyclists easier by educating drivers and street planners to understand the behaviour of cyclists.
Coun Wild wants to solve these problems by changing the speed limit to 20 miles per hour.
He said: “I plan to work with residents to make the streets cleaner and to make the lives of residents much easier.”
He also wants to organise more “community involvement” to help the people in the area to communicate and cooperate together.
“Lots of people want to help their community, whether it be with a local sports team, keeping their street tidy or helping with homework club. I would like to try and help coordinate this kind of action,” he said.
“I care about my community. I love Cardiff. I have heard a lot of people complaining about the council, so I want to try and help make it better.”
Coun Wild took over the role after Cecilia Love resigned due to family issues. He won 1071 votes in a by-election last month.
