ONE of Cardiff’s two Voice stars says she has been “humbled” by the support from fans.
Faith Nelson, 18, from Leckwith, said: “I feel very fortunate, overwhelmed and humbled by the response I am getting. There was constructive criticism but I understand what everyone is saying and I’m not hung-up on it.”
Both Miss Nelson and Leighton Jones, 41, from Cardiff, secured a place on the BBC talent show on Saturday night.
Boy George chose Leighton. Judges Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson turned their chairs for Faith – and she chose Paloma Faith as her mentor.
“I am extremely excited to have Paloma as my mentor, we are double Faith. The best advice Paloma has given me so far in the competition is to be myself.
Faith’s only worry is the next round called “Battles”.
“I feel slightly uncomfortable about it as I hate conflict. But I am going to give it my best. One secret I can give you about my performance is that there will be a lot of colours, but that is all I can give away.”
Though she has received some criticism she has decided not to let it hold her back.
“I am not really focussing on all the negativity. However, what I took away from the judges is that I need to have control but that’s a thing I need to learn over time. I am only 18 so in time and with the right training things will eventually be better.”
