To celebrate St David’s Day this year, here are nine reasons why being Welsh is the best.
- We have a way with words.
Where else in the world will you here sayings like: “I’ll be there in a minute, now”?
- We celebrate being Welsh in style with our annual Eisteddfod.
To honour one of Wales’ heroes, Hedd Wyn, we gather every year for a healthy competition of poetry, singing and dancing.
- Glorious food.
We love food – from Bara Brith, cawl, to our scrumptious Welsh cakes.
- Fantastic sports teams.
Our sports teams are like no other. We eat, sleep and breathe rugby.
- Beautiful language.
Even the most fluent Welsh speakers will struggle to pronounce this town’s name.
- Oh what’s occurring?
Without us, you wouldn’t have Gavin and Stacey. Tidy!

- Every Welsh person has a voice of an angel.
We are home to the likes of Tom Jones, the Stereophonics and the Manic Street Preachers.

- Y Draig Goch.
We may only be a principality but our flag is pretty cool.
- Fancy a cwtsh (cwtch)?
You may have heard of a hug or a cuddle but you are missing out if you have never experienced a cwtsh.
