POLICE are looking for a man in connection with a traffic accident in Cathays which left one car flipped onto its side. The crash took place at 5.15pm on Wednesday at the junction of Coburn Street and Fitzroy Street. Two cars were involved, a silver Mercedes and a blue Ford Galaxy.
Student Phumzila Sikakana, 21, who lives on Coburn street said: “I was walking home and I heard a massive bang. I turned around and saw a blue car flying through the air and landing on another car.”
She dropped her bags and went to see if the driver was hurt. He was trapped inside the car but was not seriously hurt. The blue Ford Galaxy had landed on its side, damaging a silver Ford KA parked on the street.
Ms Sikakana then went to check on the car, a silver Mercedes, but found the driver had gone. “I went around the corner to see if the other driver was hurt but the door was open and he was gone,” Ms Sikakana said. She then phoned the emergency services who took about 10 minutes to arrive.
People who had gathered at the scene helped to free driver of the blue Ford before emergency services arrived.
