A FAIRWATER hair and beauty salon has reached the Welsh finals of the National Hairdressers Federation awards.
The Pamper Lounge, at 171b Pwllmelin Road, opened five years ago and has been operating under its present name since 2014.
The NHF Wales Awards are “a celebration of the best in the hairdressing, barbering and beauty industry throughout the whole of Wales”. The finals take place on Sunday, November 6 at the Angel Hotel in Cardiff.
Salon owner Jo Hillberg, 33, grew up on Carter Place, just around the corner from the salon.
She has spent 18 years as a stylist and has previously been nominated for Beautician of the Year at the Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards.
She has also been nominated for Nail Artist Technician of the Year and Beauty Technician of the Year at Sunday’s ceremony.
Miss Hillberg said the nomination was “absolutely brilliant”.
“It’s not just down to me, it’s down to the girls because they’re really good, hardworking girls,” she said.
Miss Hillberg and her four employees, Charlotte Evans, Natalie Reid, Anne Buckridge and Adele Fullick, Fairwater have 32 years of experience between them.

Of her fellow finalists she said: “I know a couple of them and they’re fantastic, and they all deserve to be there.
“What’s nice is that they’re all smaller businesses like myself on the outskirts of Cardiff. It’s nice that they’ve all been recognised.”
The Pamper Lounge offers a range of services including manicures, pedicures, massages, shellac nails, tanning, waxing, threading, make-up and lashes.
