CARDIFF Centre feels like a carnival as hundreds of thousands of fans from all over Europe visit for the UEFA final.
The final of the Champions League is between Real Madrid and Juventus and 170,000 fans are attending, which is half the size of the population of Cardiff.
Raul, 20, from Madrid, said that the match meant more to him than football. He said: “It’s to have a nice weekend with my family and I would like to share the moment. It’s more than football, I just have to say that.”
The mass of fans have caused delays in Paddington Station in London, and extra trains carried 60,000 passengers, while there were more than 1,250 coaches, 400 extra flights.
Leti Roca, 23, from Galicia, said: “Cardiff is such a beautiful city, and the atmosphere is great.”
Lorena Palace, 23, from Toledo, said: “I love Real Madrid. This is such a special tournament and the most important day of the year.”
Real Madrid have reached the European Cup/Champions League final for the 15th time, four more than any other club. They’ve won 11 of the previous 14.
However, Juventus are the only unbeaten team in this season’s Champions League, they have won nine and drawn three. They are the first team since Atletico Madrid in 2013/14 to reach the final without losing a single game.
