PARADES and ceremonies have marked the 99th Anniversary of Remembrance Sunday across the Cardiff and Vale areas.
Cathays Park held a sombre commemoration of the lives lost by British troops at the Welsh National War Memorial, opened by Cardiff council Honorary Chaplain, Reverend Canon Stewart Lisk.
In attendance were Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan, Morfudd Meredith representing the Royal Family, First Minister Carwyn Jones, and Leader of Cardiff Council Huw Thomas.
Last Post was played by a bugler from The Royal Welsh Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of The Royal Welsh, followed by a two-minutes silence. Council and Welsh Assembly Leaders laid wreaths, alongside the leaders of the main political parties.
Following the service in Alexandria Gardens, military personnel paraded around City Hall, offering an eyes-right to Lord Lieutenant Meredith.
