Bluebirds look to close gap to Wolves

CARDIFF City host a struggling Barnsley side tonight in a game that could see the Bluebirds close the gap on league leaders Wolves to just three points.
City should be well rested after the chaos caused by Storm Emma over the weekend meant their game against Brentford on Saturday was postponed.
Both sides had their weekend fixtures called off, and Cardiff’s trip to Brentford and Barnsley’s home date with Norwich City have been rescheduled for Tuesday 13 March.
Cardiff manager Neil Warnock will be aware of the importance of a big win tonight to put pressure on Championship rivals Wolves, who do not play until tomorrow night, as they travel to Leeds.
Lowly Barnsley will be heavy underdogs for this match as they sit just one place outside the relegation zone in the EFL Championship.
However their form has appeared to turn since the arrival of their new coach, Jose Morais.
The Portuguese has picked up four points from his first two away games as Barnsley manager and anything from tonight’s match will be massive for their survival chances.
When the two teams faced off in November last year the Bluebirds came away with a 1-0 win with Callum Paterson scoring the only goal of the game in the 83rd minute.
Cardiff hope Paterson can return from injury in time for tonight’s game but skipper Sean Morrison remains a doubt.
Barnsley defender Ethan Pinnock may be back for the first time since January following a broken bone in his foot.
Adam Jackson will not return for the away side until the weekend as per Football Association concussion protocol after being knocked unconscious during last Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Hull.
