On May 27 2018, a race village will open to welcome the sailors to Cardiff. The two-week festival site will host a variety of entertainment and Volvo Ocean Race-themed attractions.
Along the waterfront in the Bay, there will be a cinema, live music and trade stalls bringing a Welsh flavour to the international event.
NoFit State Circus will also be performing at the village, inside a giant silver spaceship.
Leading boats are expected on May 28, fresh from a gruelling trip across the Atlantic from Newport, Rhode Island. The 66 men and women will then compete in an In-Port Race before setting off to Gothenburg.
The race, which was established in 1973, set off from Alicante in October last year and has since visited cities on six continents across the world.
Entry to the event is free but some events are ticketed.
You can track each boat’s journey to Cardiff on the official Volvo Ocean Race website where they have a live tracker: https://www.volvooceanrace.com/static/tracker/leg07.html
