FOOTBALL superstars Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez will renew their club rivalries at international level as they face-off in the China Cup Final.
The Real Madrid and Barcelona stars will meet in the China Cup final on Monday after Wales dispatched the hosts yesterday and Uruguay beat the Czech Republic this afternoon.
In today’s semi-final, Uruguay ran out comfortable winners as two first-half goals from Suarez and Edinson Cavani ensured a 2-0 victory against the Czech Republic.
Bale was on top form for his country on Wednesday, scoring a hat-trick to become Wales’ top goal scorer as Wales ran out 6-0 winners.
A Welsh win was expected against an unfancied China side but the margin of victory may have come as a surprise to some.
Harry Wilson marked his full debut and 21st birthday with a goal, while Burnley forward Sam Vokes got two to ensure Ryan Giggs’ tenure got off to a winning start.
It was the perfect start for Giggs, who took over the role of Wales manager earlier this year following the departure of Chris Coleman, and he will be hoping to follow it up with a win in Monday’s final.
The final will be the first real test for Giggs against a top-class nation. With all due respect to China, anything other than a comprehensive Welsh victory would have been disappointing.
Uruguay will pose a whole new challenge. The South Americans qualified comfortably for this year’s World Cup and are currently only two places below Wales in the FIFA World Rankings.
The final will kick-off at 11.35am GMT on Monday.
