BARRY is getting hip for this year’s Christmas lights switch-on, which will have everything from a bar made out of an old horsebox to Portuguese themed hot dogs.
Taking place on the High Street, the event aims to please all generations with an interactive nativity scene where you can get your picture taken as well as a rumoured visit from Santa.
For the adults, there will be a bar, a supply of the local Eccentric Gin and DIY mulled wine kits.
Craft stalls run by local businesses are a feature, with everything from discount holiday gifts for your furry friends to reclaimed artisan woodcraft.
The festivities begin on November 16 from 1pm to 6pm, with the lights switch-on taking place at 5.15pm.
There will be carol singers and a brass band there to kick-start the festivities.
Barry High Street Traders will also be dressing up in festive clothing to get everyone in the holiday spirit.
Organisers, the High Street Traders, said: “We hope to do what we always do — provide a much loved annual event for our community.
“We hope to bring the community together, get everyone feeling festive, and to show everyone what a wonderful community space the High Street is.
“In a time where local businesses are struggling more and more, we’d encourage everyone to shop local whenever they can!”
