Wales Women hope to upset Grand Slam favourites England

AFTER Wales Women drew 3-3 in Italy, Rowland Phillips’ side will be looking to cause an upset this weekend as they take on Grand Slam favourites England.
England beat the reigning champions France in the last round, in what was a seriously impressive display.

Putting seven tries past their opponents, the Red Roses are now firm favourites to take home the title.
Power and pace were at a premium and Wales will have their work cut out to try and stop this impressive England side.
While England were scoring for fun, Wales ground out a try-less draw in Italy in a tight, physical encounter.
The game itself was tight, with very few chances throughout. Yet the pressure was still abundant as Wales were camped out on their own line for the final 10 minutes of the game.
Rowland Phillips’ side can reward themselves for stopping Italy scoring a try but know that England will be a much tougher test at the Arms Park on Sunday.
The try that never was
Jasmine Joyce will be key if Wales are going to put points on the board against England. The winger’s disallowed try was the highlight of the game, outpacing the Italian defence only to be ruled out due to a forward pass.
With England’s pace, Joyce may be Wales’ main attacking option if they are to break down the Red Roses.
What they said
Wales head coach, Rowland Phillips said: “We went into the game in Italy on the back of a huge defeat in France and they had won in Scotland.
“They were full of confidence, and are a good side, so we were pleased to get something out of the game.”
