Neil Harris’s side face ex-Premier League rivals Huddersfield Town
THE Bluebirds travel to the John Smith’s Stadium to face Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night.
Cardiff won the previous tie between the sides, running out as 2-1 victors at Cardiff City Stadium in August.
Manager Neil Harris has overseen a five-match unbeaten run, though there are concerns over the lack of goals scored with City on a goal difference of zero and level on points with fierce rivals Swansea.
However, Harris appears unconcerned. He said: “There’s been a spring in the step in the group over the past couple of weeks.
“We’re looking forward to each game. It’s up to us to concentrate on ourselves. We know where we want to be and it’s about getting there.”
Lee Tomlin secured all three points against bottom-placed Luton Town on Saturday as his strike sealed a 1-0 victory on the road.
The win was crucial in the hunt for a play-off place, with Harris’ team now only four points adrift.
Tomlin’s goals have been vital for the side in recent fixtures, scoring against Birmingham, West Bromwich Albion, and now Luton.
Debutant winger Albert Adomah impressed against Luton, registering the assist for Tomlin’s goal. He is expected to start against the Terriers.
Huddersfield are now six points clear of the relegation zone after a 2-0 win against QPR on Saturday.
The West Yorkshire side will be hoping to win two games in a row – something that they have not done since November.
Cardiff will be heading into this match as favourites but must be wary of a Huddersfield side that has shown recent improvement and have a home advantage.
