Online music festival launches in aid of charity

Event run by students is raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust

A MUSIC festival is set to launch online in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and the Save our Venues campaign.

Immersed! festival, which will run between January 29 and 31, has been organised by students at University of South Wales.

A spokesperson for Immersed said: “The pandemic-induced ‘new normal’ has endangered all things cultural, and whilst our plans have undoubtedly been affected, thankfully Immersed! 2021 is not one of them.

“With more bands, more ‘stages’, more venues, and more opportunities, this year’s event endeavours to reach over 40,000 screens.”

The festival will be livestreamed on Twitch and Youtube over the weekend, and will feature multiple genres of music across several stages.

You do not need to buy a ticket to watch the event, but viewers will be encouraged to donate to Teenage Cancer Trust.

So far £120 has been raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and a link to a donation page will be shared regularly during the livestream.

Additionally, the festival is also supporting the Save Our Venues campaign through merchandise sales.

A T-shirt is available to buy on the Keep Cardiff Live website, with all of the proceeds going towards Save our Venues.

Immersed! has been running since 2019, but this is the first time that it has been an exclusively online event.

The music sets for the festival were all filmed under socially distanced conditions before the current lockdown.
